Creating your own chandelier can be quite an adventure if done correctly. Although you can actually create your own from scratch using some light sockets and tiny lamp shades, unless you are an electrical genius it is best to save this for the professionals. However there are ways to turn a very plan chandelier into a masterpiece.

Start with a boring non-accessorized chandelier that you can find at your local home improvement store. Add crystal accessories that you can find at a chandelier parts or lighting store. Strands are sold relatively inexpensively and you can simply hang or attach them to the plain chandelier to make your chandelier look like a million bucks.

Garland and beads are often used to decorate an otherwise boring chandelier. Add tiny lampshades full of color and pattern to each individual light to give it new flavor. Hanging ornaments of any type (not just holiday ornaments) can give it a new look too. Use colors that are already found in the room for a more pulled together focal point. These can be found at any craft store. Twisty ties are great for keeping the beads and ornaments on the chandeliers so it is secure. Embellish the chandelier with fringe or ribbon to add glitz and glamour.

Not all chandeliers need to sparkle to look beautiful. If you have a nautical themed room, then simply glue seashells to the arms of the chandelier for a true seashore feeling. Take what you love and add it to the chandelier for a look that is totally unique and stunning.
