Lighting a medium sized room can be a challenge. If you use a fixture that is too large it dwarfs your furniture and if you use a fixture that is too small the function is nearly obsolete.

The solution is to go the middle route: a 4 light chandelier is the perfect solution to the Goldilocks lighting problem. Not too large and not too small, 4 lights is the just right fit that many homeowners and designers have discovered as the compromised solution.

One of the newest trends with 4 light chandeliers is the versatility of the optional lampshade. Many chandeliers will come as bare bulbs, but vendors are now offering customizable lamp covers in a myriad of styles and colors.

Some interior designers change their lampshade with the season or in tune with a holiday occasion. With this new twist on the chandelier you never have to settle for one look. Now you can have a look for every day or the week.

Available in fabrics and patterns as diverse as each homeowner collecting lampshades has taken off. Some of the more unique shades available are made of hemp or rawhide with various accent features. Other, more exotic shades can be found from boutique shops in faraway lands such as India. Gem Delites, located in Pune India, carries shades made from gemstones or even agate.

The typical lampshade for a 4 light chandelier can even be added on to with ribbons, feathers or dangling crystals. Workshops for designing such unique shades are popping up across the nation.
